After the game we went to Toomer’s Corner. It is a place on the corner of College and Magnolia, across from Toomer’s Drug Store and in front of Biggin Hall (where I slept through many an art slide show and had to break brand new crayons for an art class). There used to be more trees but due to weather over the years we are down to 2…100+ year old oak trees. After an Auburn win, fans flock to Toomer’s Corner to roll the trees with toilet paper. There are many stories as to why…but it has been a unique Auburn tradition for years and years. I have thrown a roll or 2 myself!
Last November, after the last Iron Bowl game where Auburn BEAT BAMA, some idiot POISONED the trees. He called into a radio show in January to tell all what he had done and how proud he was. He is an Alabama fan and is rumored to have girls named Bear Bryant and Crimson Tide! This is no joke. The trees were tested and found to have the poison. Steps have been take to try and save the trees and the dimwit has been arrested.
The trees will not die right away but we wanted to make sure we had some pictures if they do die.

In this view you can see one of the trees, an eagle statue and an National Championship flag flying over J&M Bookstore
People have been leaving notes and toilet paper rolls, candles etc… most had been cleaned up but here is a note left

I was going to by a Toomer seedling when we had our house done…now I have to get in a lottery to maybe get one of the few left…so sad.
