Beautiful end to a beautiful weekend

The weather was beautiful, the sky was beautiful and we had a wonderfully busy weekend with family and friends.  It started out with a varsity football game (we lost but to the defending state champions).  Saturday was full of Bama Bogg fun, Birthday fun and more football.  Today we had our regular church service followed by a community service at Bama Jam farms.  Our praise band played and our pastor spoke.

Another girl sang and we all walked to the lake for anyone who wanted to be baptized or wanted to re dedicate their life to Christ.  As we walked to the lake quietly you could hear the girl singing “I Surrender All”. It was very moving.

Ryan decided that morning that he wanted to be baptized.

Gary, Dennis’s dad who is battling cancer was also baptized as well as my niece Lauren, cousin Gracie and several others from our church and community.  There were 16 that were either baptized for the first time or rededicating their lives.

There was only one glitch….MUD. I guess we should have expected that at Bama BOGG!

Our Redneck Life

DSC07245

Ryan’s birthday breakfast.  He had to wake up early so I could make french toast!

Ryan turned 12 on Tuesday but we did not have  time to celebrate until Saturday.  He did not have a game so he decided that he wanted to go out to eat at Hooters!  Then we ended up with so much to do on Saturday including an Auburn game at 6 that we did not have the time to drive to Hooters and he settled for Ryan’s ( a buffet restaurant).  Earlier in the day we went to Bama Bogg!

We took our 4 wheelers to ride to the races and around the ATV trails.  Here is part of our crew.

We watched the little kids “race”

and then the “big kids”.  It was a CMR event (mud racing)

All Ryan wanted to do was run in the mud races but it took so long that we just let them race each other.  This is Sami, Dalton and Ryan.  They had a blast running in the muddy water and having mud fights.

He ended up pretty muddy.  While the boys washed off in the Hillbilly Swingin Swimmin hole, Dennis and I rode on the ATV trails.  We quickly went home, bathed and went out to eat.  We all returned home to watch the Auburn/ LSU game and had cake and ice cream at half time.

On Labor Day we had a big “gathering” of friends and family at Dennis’ parents house.  We played volleyball and ate Gary’s famous chicken.

Dennis’s cousin Rodney rode his lawn mower across the road to watch the games!

One night at an away football game out in the boonies…the lights on our side went out and several in the stands had flashlights in their pockets and purses!

I had to take the Ipad to Ryan’s first game so I would not miss the first Auburn game!

Dennis and his dad grilled chicken for the varsity football team this week before the big game on Friday night.  They ate it ALL!

I am sure I will have more glimpses into our redneck life soon.  This time of year our life revolves around football.  We play 3 games a week and watch more on TV.  Birthdays, weddings, parties etc. are all planned around high school and college football.  So my next blog entry will be about…..FOOTBALL!!

Happy Birthday Ryan

Now!

Ryan is finally 12!  He has been waiting for this day for months.

Happy Birthday to our fun loving, adventurous, smart, and caring young man.  In the past year, Ryan has been in several plays, learned to play the saxophone, became a junior bee keeper, graduated from elementary school and started junior high, played basketball, baseball and football, took golf lessons and moved up to the youth group at church.  He loves to try new things and brings so much energy to our family.  We are very proud of him and can’t wait to see what he grows up to be (he has so many career ideas).  Whatever he chooses to be I know that he will be great at it.  He puts his heart into everything he does already.

Happy Birthday Ryan, I hope the next year, your last as a “pre teen” , is full of all the things you enjoy…but no, you cannot have anymore animals!

We love you!
