A Day at the Beach

Sunday we spent another day in the sun....at Panama City Beach. PCB is about an hour and a half from our house. Kenny and Nicki have a small condo there right across from the beach. We got there about 10 am and headed to the beach soon after. The kids ALL had a great time. The boys swam like fish and found these little tiny shells with critters inside (like hermit crabs I guess). They would find them and put them in buckets with water and watch them walk around with the shell on their backs. Lauren did not like the waves, which were not big at all-Thank goodness. She would hold my hand and we would jump the waves. Autumn wanted to swim! She would practically dive out of your arms to get into the water. She went way out to the sand bar on a raft, would hold my hand and jump waves close to the shore and get in deep in my arms. She loved it. We spent several hours there and then went back to the condo to the pools. The boys and Lauren swam and played a bit while the guys grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. We ate while we watch the USA Little League team beat the Asia-Pacific team in the Little League World Series. GO USA! The kids played hide and seek and then we drove to Pier Park. The last time I was there is was a Field of nothing and a small parking lot. NOW it is a huge outdoor shopping complex! Really neat. It finally started to rain a bit so we went to the candy store and headed home. We all got a bit too much sun but we had a great time.

FOOTBALL!

In the deep South, it is all about football in the fall. Friday nights are at our old High school and Saturdays will be spent watching the little boys play. This past Saturday was a crazy (unorganized) jamboree with several teams playing each other for practice. It was at least 110 degrees sitting on the bleachers!! Ryan's game was at 2pm so he had to be there at 1pm. It was sooo hot. He did fine for a first game. He does not LOVE it like the others but liked the game better than practices. His team did not do well but that's why we were here. Now they know what to work on and have planned 3 practices this week! Grant's team was down in numbers due to the flu bugs going around so he played positions he was not used to. The offense had a hard time but the defense looked good. Grant picked up a dropped ball and ran with it for a bit and tried to get a hand off but the QB had a hard time getting the ball from the new center...(Jennifer-ask JR to translate :)) Overall the team looked good. It was fun watching them play. Grant's game was at 6:30pm so it was much cooler. We were not all huddled under umbrellas! Also watched my Niece cheer and nephews play! The first REAL games are not until Sept 19th.
Grant is #35 behind the line
Waiting to start...he was a bit nervous
